Who Helps Low Income? Not Today’s Welfare!

My wife and I just finished bringing all of our belongings to our new home in east side, one of the lowest income communities in Waco, TX. After traveling the nation with the Tea Party Express, the hope I have for my community is even greater. I’ve seen majestic beauty that can only be explained with whatever connects the eyes to the brain. I’ve smelled mountain air that no air freshener comes close to. And best of all, I’ve seen thousands of Americans that are standing up against leadership and policies that seem to be designed for the sole purpose of ending American exceptionalism.

With every one talking about the less fortunate and those that have not, I figure my community, with all it’s lacking, may be a topic of interest. Because my community is one of the lowest income communities in our city, it’s safe to say that communities like mine receive the lion’s share of assistance provided by taxpayer’s money. If it were not for the fact that I haven’t seen any noticeable change for the better in low income communities, I may have continued to support the supposed government outreach. Today, I stand against big government socialist programs because I see first hand, every day, how destructive and crippling these programs are.

My desire to be a blessing to my community has led me to meet and associate with organizations and individuals that are positioned to make a real difference in communities like mine. My greater hope comes from knowing just how many Americans are willing to offer support for creative and effective ideas. As a new conservative, I look forward to contributing my ideas and energy toward welfare reform among other issues. I am currently working on a program that will promote, not provide, the general welfare of our communities. This program will be intentional and systematic, requiring effort and progress on the recipient’s part. We will strive to cut a path out of poverty eliminating the need for programs that do nothing but make it comfortable at the bottom.
